About Me

My name is Harold R. Snider MA CH

Specialized Hypnosis Training
I was formally trained in Hypnosis by a National Guild of Hypnotist Trainer. I trained personally with Certified Instructor Rev. William Mitchell M.Div.. BCH and graduated from Mithchell Institute of Professional Hypnosis, which is a State of Illinois Approved School of Hypnotism. This led to the designation of "Certified Consulting Hypnotist"
Further Specialization in Complementary Hypnotism was completed and Certified by the National Guild of Hypnotist.
Master of Arts Degree (M.A.) in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
As part of the requirement for this degree I served a one year Psychology Internship with the University of Illinois Peoria School of Medicine. During this Internship I was supervised weekly by a Psychiatrist, a Clinical Social Worker, a Psychologist, and a Masters Level Psychotherapist. While in this Internship I spent time working with clients in the Sleep and Pain Clinic, The Sexuality Disorders Clinic, The Anxiety Disorders Clinic, Biofeedback Lab, and worked with the Chronically Mentally Ill. During this time I learned to do Psychological Assessments, Intelligence Testing, Personality Testing, Sexuality Assessment, and Psychological Diagnostics. As part of the treatment regimen, I also utilized Hypnosis as well as other tools in the treatment plan and protocols. However, I have chosen to practice as a Consulting Hypnotist, not as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner. My scope of practice is focused on working with ordinary everyday people, with everyday ordinary problems of living, using hypnosis and teaching self-hypnosis to help clients learn new skills in coping with stress, overcoming fears, controlling their relationships to tobacco and food, thus helping them to quit smoking and /or deal with issues of the self-management of their relationship to food. and other issues in which hypnosis may be applied for self-improvement. If medical or psychological treatment is warranted, I would make the appropriate referral to a licensed practitioner.

Undergraduate Education
From Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, I obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) in Occupational Education.
I also have an Associate in General Education Degree and an Associate in Arts and Science Degree from Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Illinois.
I also have a certificate in Alcohol and Drug Abuse from Illinois Central College. I have also completed a 400 hour internship with The Illinois Addiction Recovery Center at Unity Point Proctor Hospital.
